Summer 2012 Outfit Ideas : cute casual and affordable

Summer 2012 Outfit Idea : cute casual and affordable

Thanks to one of my current favourite social networking sites, Pinterest, I was able to "pin" some outfits that I think are super cute and really easy to try!

  • Summer hat could be purchased at Ardene's for only $9.50
  • Denim jumper from The Gap for $62.99 (on sale)
  • Strappy Sandals from H&M for a solid $19.95
  • Funky shades by Forever 21 for a steal of a price at $6.80
  • Throw on your own hair tie, and jazz it up with some accessories and I'd say we've re-made this cute and casual summer look!
Thanks for reading and happy shopping :)

May 24: Buckle up for Summer 2012

It's time to officially bring out the bikinis, boats, and beach chairs for the new summer. As tourists cruise up the 400 to the great north known as Muskoka to celebrate another summer at their cottages and for the locals to welcome back city friends and gather with schoolmates from the older days (or in our case last year.) In lieu of the celebration and homecoming of this weekend 'A' and have conjured up a list of 'must-haves' in order to survive the weekend;

  • Bathing Suit- show off that great beach bod you worked hard to achieve while studying for finals, your multitasking is a talent that should be rewarded!
  • Beverages- there's no way to survive this weekend without plenty of drinks! We'll be drinking a combo of coolers, mojitos, vitamin water and plenty of water to stay hydrated on this scorching weekend
  • Bug Spray- it may as well be the perfume of the north during the Spring and Summer seasons and let us tell you, those black flies are out!
  • Casual Summer Dress- that can be dressed up for a night at one of the local pubs/bars or worn simply to the general store to pick up ice and snacks
  • Sun Screen- no one really likes a sunburn on their first day back to the docks
  • Flip Flops- that can be slipped on or thrown off easily while on the beach or in the boat
  • Shorts- of any material of your choosing, whether you decide to don a pair of the bohemian jean shorts with lace inserts or a classic linen/cotton Bermuda
  • Sweatshirt- to protect you from the bugs and cold while roasting some marshmallows (and s'mores supplies of coarse!)
  • Sunglasses- to protect your tired eyes the morning after and to add a little mystery when ogling the hot guy at the local golf course or marina
  • Music- bring along a stereo if you want to listen to a local radio station playing some classic rock/ country or your iPod if you want something a little more current

Hopefully our guideline helps you on your last minute weekend packing and most importantly enjoy your May 24 celebrations and play safe because this wild summer has just begun!

H's Street Style
This past weekend I had a birthday dinner to attend and in true Muskokan fashion wore a simple white t-shirt by Joe Fresh paired with my comfy jeans in an updated hue of victoria blue by Forever 21. I infused the look with some urban classics such as coral canvas/straw wedges sandals by Payless, a mens style black blazer by Zara, Coach wallet and wayfarer sunglasses.

If you are interested in trying out the colour blocking trend this outfit would be a simpler version since it consists of both neutrals and bolds. Experimenting with trends while maintaining within your style comfort level leads to a memorable outfit and confidence filled time!

H's STREET STYLE

Spring has sprung as you can see by my background and so I made the bold move to take my white capri pants out of hibernation. For this outfit I tried to combine some simple classics such as white pants by Mossimo, black wayfarer sunglasses by Joe Fresh, black patent buckle flats by Michael Antonio and my cherished gold Michael Kors watch with some boho basics such as vintage ear rings, an exposed seam striped shirt by Lark & Wolf and a paisley scarf from Ardene. The look worked perfect for the relaxed yet polished atmosphere of a Muskokan weekend.

A's DIY Mullet Skirt

DIY Mullet Skirt

On a lazy day its always fun to create some of your own DIY's (do it yourself). I have had a mullet skirt on my list of must buys for the spring/summer season, but did not get around to buying one yet. Some i've looked at can be kind of pricey and plain! I'm not the best seamstress but I do love to create simple projects, so when I came across the idea to make my own, I jumped right on it! This mullet skirt was super easy and fun to make. Its perfect for a summer day because its light and breezy. You can easily dress it up with a fancier top and some heals or dress it down with a plain shirt, costume accessories and some strapy sandals.

I encourage everyone to try their own, thanks for reading!

Yours truly,

A's Street Style

Street Style Inspired
Bold floral is hot this season and i'm sure I will be spotting lots more in the streets! These capris were a hot seller from H&M's 2012 spring line. I cooled this outfit down with a solid white 3/4 sleeve sweater that I found while thrifting in the city (a hobby that I love). I warmed it up with some bold red wedges by Paloma Barcelo. I cant go out on a sunny day without my favourite Marc Jacobs shades. And my practical&cute Le Champ handbag cant go wrong with any outfit. Accessories: gold and white belt found thrifting, Michael Kors watch and a tiffany&co necklace.

Spring is Setting: and the new H&M Bikini's are hot!

I've noticed the past few spring/summer seasons H&M has been coming out with unique and affordable bikini's. When the warm weather starts, a H&M bikini goes right on my "summer: must buy" list. Check out the gallery of some of my favourite styles from the http://www.hm.com/ca/website.
